Everlasting Sand Castle

Here's a great activity you can do with the kids to say good-bye to Summer.  You can build your own sand castle that will last forever if you want!

Age: 18-40 months

Duration: 20 minutes

Materials Needed:

  • 4 cups sand
  • 2 cups cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cream of tarter
  • 3 cups hot water

Directions:
  1. Mix all ingredients together and let cool.
  2. Your child can use the mixture to build a sand castle by hand, or he can use shallow plastic containers for molds.  Coat the containers with Vaseline before using.
  3. Give the castle 3 days to dry.
